Best Bang for Your Buck: Maxi Dresses and Skirts

Maxi dresses and skirts are in again this summer, which is wonderful because I love them. They’re perfect for tall women who can’t find a dress that’s long enough, they’re great substitutes for maternity clothes, and they look good on just about everyone with the right patterns and cuts.

If you’re looking for a great deal on maxi dresses, below are the best values.

Forever 21:

Some people think that Forever 21 clothing isn’t very good quality. I know that because in my last retail gig I was told this by some of my customers (fortunately I worked for a competitor, otherwise this new would have been depressing). I think the quality is just fine, especially for the price of the items. I have several articles of clothing from them that are still in one piece. This simple contrast maxi dress is only $15.80, and it’s got a sheer overlay skirt that comes in three different colors. It’s only one of many at Forever21.com.

Tidebuy:

Now I can’t say either way about the quality of tidebuy.com because I’ve never bought anything from the site, but I’d be willing to take a chance on this bohemian maxi dress for $12.09. As of today, 6/20/13, tidebuy.com is doing a huge sale, and this dress in particular is 70% off. Even the original price of $39.00 is not too bad.

1015 Store:

Now this cute little number is only $15.00, but I’m wondering if it’s such a good deal because the company promotes the maxi dresses as 2012 styles. Maybe it’s a typo, maybe it’s a good deal because they are from last year. The downside is that the dress only comes in small, medium, and large. However, the online shop does offer clothing selections in plus sizes.

Patterns:

Maybe you want something completely unique. Maybe you like to sew your own dresses. If you want to create your own maxi dress, Sweet Verbena has a pattern I absolutely love.

Of course, I myself would skip the dyeing process and instead buy fabric that already has color and/or a pattern. But that’s the beauty of it. You can make the dress your own like Kathleen Frances of Grosgrain did below.

Fabulous dresses. I’m going to make my own sometime this summer.

But see? Lot’s (because I promise you there’s more out there) of cheap maxi dresses that won’t break your bank.

Love cliches.
