Pita pizzas everyone!
My roommates and I discovered these while studying abroad in Athens, Greece. One of them decided to see what it would taste like if she put pizza topping on a pita and cooked it. The results were glorious, so naturally the rest of us had to follow suit. A few years later I’m making them again in my own kitchen. Of course, you can’t beat made-in-Greece pitas, but the American version is still pretty delicious.
It can get pretty healthy when you use whole wheat pitas (100 calories, zero fat and cholesterol, 6 grams protein), mozzarella cheese, turkey pepperoni, and fresh veggies. And they are soooooo good. So good. I want another one right now.
They’re simple to make. Plop on your favorite toppings, maybe fresh spinach and cooked chicken. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Cook the pizzas for 8 minutes. And you’re golden.
To top it all off, the ingredients won’t break your bank.
